Origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, is gaining popularity among students as a creative and relaxing activity. Recently, six students from Telangana, who joined Sanjay Ghodawat International University (SGIU) at Atigre near Kolhapur, attended an engaging Origami workshop in Kolhapur.

The session introduced them to the basics of Origami, where a simple square sheet of paper was folded into beautiful birds, flowers, and useful models. The students were thrilled to see how creativity and patience could transform plain paper into works of art. For them, the workshop was not just about craft but also about learning focus, discipline, and innovation.

Origami is known to improve concentration, hand–eye coordination, and problem-solving skills. University students, often dealing with academic pressure, find it a perfect stress-buster. These Telangana students expressed their happiness, mentioning that Origami will help them relax and refresh their minds during studies.

The growing interest in Origami workshops in Kolhapur and across India shows how this art connects people beyond language and culture. Many students are also looking forward to online Origami workshops, making it easier to learn from anywhere. SGIU’s initiative has surely opened a creative chapter for these enthusiastic learners.

Ms. Deepti Deshpande, Origami teacher and founder of Anandi Balbhavan at Kolhapur was present during the session.
