Childhood is not just a phase of life; it is an experience filled with curiosity, creativity, and boundless imagination. At Sanjay Ghodawat International University (SGI), Kolhapur, this spirit of childhood came alive once again when teenagers gathered for a unique and refreshing session that combined the joy of Origami activities with the magic of storytelling.
The session was beautifully conducted by Ms. Dipti Deshpande a founder Anandi Balbhavan Foundation, Kolhapur and an Origami enthusiast. She is known for her dedication to nurturing young minds through art and various activities. During the entire session, she created an atmosphere where learning was not a task but a delightful journey of discovery.
Origami: The Art of Self-Creation
Origami, the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, has always been more than just craft. It is an activity that sharpens concentration, improves patience, and encourages self-expression. For these teenagers, the session became an escape from routine academic pressures. Each fold of paper slowly transformed into vibrant birds, flowers, and imaginative shapes—every creation carrying a unique story of its own.
As the students explored this art, one could sense their laughter, their surprise at their own creations, and the joy of realizing that something so simple could be so meaningful. The activity was not just about making paper models; it was about rediscovering the child within, cherishing the happiness of creating with one’s own hands.
Storytelling: A Bridge Between Imagination and Learning
What made the session truly memorable was the storytelling with Origami that accompanied the activity. Ms. Deshpande beautifully wove short, meaningful stories around the Origami models. A folded bird wasn’t just a bird; it was a messenger of freedom. A paper boat wasn’t just a boat; it became a symbol of dreams and journeys.
This combination of art and narrative created an immersive experience. Students not only crafted figures but also connected with their deeper meanings. Storytelling brought warmth, humor, and lessons of life to the activity, sparking reflections in young minds.
A Moment of Togetherness and Joy
The hall at SGI was filled with laughter, enthusiasm, and the sound of paper folding. Teenagers, often caught in the rush of academics and technology, found themselves absorbed in something simple, creative, and fulfilling. There was no competition, no judgment; only joy and satisfaction.
The smiles on their faces and the sparkle in their eyes spoke volumes about how such activities enrich lives. In a world where digital screens dominate leisure time, Origami offered them the rare joy of tangible creation. It reminded them of the importance of patience, focus, and teamwork.
Gratitude and Looking Ahead
